Having lived and run a business in Lichfield for 30 years I feel very strongly about supporting the local region.That means taking an interest in the area and where possible lending a hand.
Lichfield is a beautiful city with an intriguing history. I would recommend a day trip to anyone considering a trip to the Midlands and don't forget to pop into the Arthur Price Facory Shop as well!
In April 2009 I was bestowed the privilege of being appointed the 456th Sheriff of Lichfield. Highlights of the year's official civic duties included leading the historic Sheriff's Ride around the city's surrounding counrtyside.
During that 12 months I learnt much about the district and I continue to be inspired by our great city and its people.
The old saying goes 'Charity begins at home' and that's exactly why I decided to get involved with the 'We Love Lichfield Fund'.
The Fund is supported by a number of local business people who have dedicated their time to helping raise money that will make a real difference to community and voluntary groups in the region by providing grants to them.

After learning to take to the saddle for the Sheriff's Ride I was delighted that the We Love Lichfield Fund was able to make a donatation to a cause that's close to my heart.
In the picture I'm presenting the cheuqe to wonderful ladies, Tracey Fracis and Teresa Watt of Gartmore Riding for the Disabled, an incredibly worthwhile charity.
I'm sure that these funds will help to provide local children with some wonderfully happy memories of an exciting, adventurous and (I speak from first hand knowledge) liberating new experience.
As the father of three children, citizen of Lichfield and a proud traditionalist I thought it would be a great idea to give a special gift each year to the first born baby in Lichfield.
The first gift for 2012 was an eye-catching solid silver Celtic cup engraved with the baby's name birth weight and location. The cup hallmarked in Birmingham is one of the silver items made in 2012 will have an extra hallmark to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee.
