Seven perfect pancake toppings just in time for Pancake Day

Here at Arthur Price, we love experimenting with different toppings to transform our pancakes, so we’ve put together seven of our favourites to inspire you ahead of the big day.

1. Lemon and Sugar

Everybody loves a classic, and you can’t go wrong with the sweet-and-sour taste of freshly-squeezed lemon juice sprinkled with caster sugar.

2. Nutella and Banana

A modern classic – Nutella has shot into popularity over the past few years and it doesn’t look like it’s going away anytime soon! Add a little bit of sliced banana for a healthy boost, then roll the whole thing up and you’re ready to go.

 3. Crème Fraiche and Blueberries

If you fancy a healthy option, why not try a dollop of Crème Fraiche with a handful of blueberries? So light and guilt-free, you could even have two or three!

4. Bacon and Brie

Posh up your pancake with this simple-yet-delicious combination of crispy bacon and creamy brie. You could even drizzle a little maple syrup over the top to add an American twist!

5. Jam

Another classic, the sky’s the limit when it comes to choosing the perfect jam to spread on your pancake – go traditional with strawberry or take a walk on the wild side with something like spicy rhubarb and ginger.

6. Maple and Pecan

You can’t go wrong with this sweet combination, adding a little extra crunch to keep things interesting. If you don’t fancy pecans, other nuts such as hazelnut and walnut work just as well!

7. Sour Cream

Why not try something a little more savoury by adding a few spoonful’s of sour cream. From there, you can experiment with any topping you like – freshly sliced tomatoes, or even some chopped chives and smoked salmon for a classy treat.
